Join the Wad Squad
Want to experience the behind-the-scenes magic of a soda firing? The Wad Squad helps load and unload the kiln, making the firing possible while getting a front-row seat to the process.
As a thank you, participants who commit to both the loading & cleaning and the unloading & cleaning will receive one complimentary kiln share. Each share measures 12" × 12" × 12".
Loading and unloading dates are listed on the Soda Firing webpage. To participate, you must be available for both the loading and unloading of the same firing. We ask that Wad Squad members arrive on time, handle everyone's work with care, and fully participate in the loading, unloading, and cleanup.
Helping with the Wad Squad is one of the best ways to deepen your understanding of soda firing. You'll see how the kiln is packed, learn why placement matters, and become part of the collaborative effort that makes each firing successful.
What to Expect
This is physical work. Participants should be comfortable:
Lifting and moving heavy kiln shelves
Carrying multiple fragile ceramic pieces safely and efficiently
Working carefully as part of a team
Please wear work clothes & closed-toe shoes. We also recommend bringing gloves and a dust mask.
