Soda Firing 6-24-25
This will be our 23rd Kiln Firing. Follow along with the firing as I update this page on the hour.

This is the first firing with the new door that Joe Wilkinson welded. It was a dream to close!
Kiln Log:
I will log at the top of the hour here what temperature, gas, damper, and notes pertaining to the firing.
7:15pm - 71ºF, KILN START TIME - South pilot/ burner lit.
9:00pm - 396ºF/ 126ºF - Gas at candle/ not reading much, damper at 1.5”, Air - Low
10:00pm - 561ºF/ 240ºF - Gas at 0.5#, damper at 1.5”, Air - Low
Morning
7:00am - 1166ºF/ 884ºF - Both burners ON, North candling, South 0.5#, damper at 1.5”, Air - Low
8:00am - 1300ºF/ 1064ºF - Both burners at 1#, Damper 2”, Air Low- Med
9:00am - 1400ºF/ 1200ºF - Both burners at 1#, damper at 3”, air on Med (almost straight up)
10:00am - 1511ºF/ 1361ºF - Both burners at 1.5# Damper at 3” air on medium
1:30pm - 1843ºF/ 1759ºF - Both burners at 2#, Damper at 4”, air on high
2:30pm - 1941ºF/ 1870ºF - Both burners at 3#, damper at 4.5, air on high
3:30pm - 2021ºF/ 1969ºF - Both burners at 3#, damper at 4.5, air on high
Cone 1 is down top and bottom4:30pm - 2086ºF/ 2045ºF - Both burners at 3#, damper at 5, air on high
5:30pm - 2136ºF/ 2104ºF - Getting Close! Just 40 more degrees or so.
Cone 5 is bending on top.
(We will likely introduce soda around 5:45-6:15pm)
