  • 4:30pm - 2047ºF/ 1980ºF - holding everything as is.
We will likely add soda between 6:45pm and 7pm. This can still shift. Stay tuned!

  • 5:30pm - 2104ºF/ 2047ºF
Cone 4 is down on top/ not moving on the bottom.
Opened the damper another small bit. It’s about 5” open at this point.
There is back pressure out of the top and bottom peeps.
It is very likely we will soda around 7pm. Hope to see you here.
Let me know in the chat if you are coming!

  • 6:30pm - 2164ºF/ 2109ºF, the bottom is lagging a bit, but the kiln is fairly even otherwise.
Cone six is soft on top. Soda-ing soon : )

  • 6:40pm - 2170ºF/ 2119ºF - started adding soda!
We added 4 pounds of soda in two gallons of water.
We sprayed in the soda in 4 second counts (different from last time at a tem count).
I sprayed in soda on my own until folks arrived at 7pm
The kiln only lost about 5 degrees with each spray instead of 20!
We still got wrinkling in the sea green and raspberry glazes

  • Soda introduction took about 40 minutes. We reduced the kiln for about 5 minutes after introduction. Then let the damper stay open after we shut off the gas for an airy finish.
Everything went well! Jody, Steph, Joe, & Katie!
