We added two additional soda ports before the last firing. This will give a more even soda distribution throughout the kiln. During this firing I will be reducing more during soda application. We are aiming at more carbon trapping at the end of the firing. This may result in more grey on surfaces and glazes with copper being reduced in some areas of the kiln. We fit all the bisque ware outside on the soda ware carts.

I started the kiln late due to meetings I was participating in. So at 9pm one burner was lit. It candled overnight and was at 400F in the Morning. My alarm did not wake me and so the second burner was not lit as I have done in the past. When I went to light the 2nd burner there was a gas leak in the pilot line which kept catching fire (bad). I tried retightening in, but that did not work. I found the tools to cut the copper line and create a new flange/ fitting for the copper pilot line. I did it! and it worked! But now the kiln is quite behind schedule.

We had kiln loading help from Hanson, Chris, and myself : )
We also had a record fast loading at an hour and 45 minutes!
