Kiln Log:
I will log at the top of the hour here what temperature, gas, damper, and notes pertaining to the firing.
5:00pm - 56ºF ambient Temperature, KILN START TIME - South pilots/ burner lit.
7:00pm - 415ºF Top/ 129ºF Bottom, South burner lit and at 1/2#, Air on low, damper at 1.5”
7:00am - 1368ºF/ 1069ºF, South burner bumped up to 1#, Air a bit higher, damper 1.5”
8:00am - 1460ºF/ 1200ºF, South burner 1#, air medium, North burner candling, air low, damper 2#
11:00am - 1523ºF/ 1339ºF,
There was a slowdown due to the rheostat on the south burner malfunctioning, therefore no blowers. EeeeeK! Flames everywhere since the blowers did not push the gas into the kiln. I let the burners cool down and tried again. Same problem. The kiln could not be fired without the functioning rheostat. I pushed in the damper, blocked the flame ports, and ran to the hardware store. Thankfully its only a k=mile away and they had a rheostat. I replace the rheostat and now we are above the temp where the problems happened before. Yipppeeee!
Both burners now at 2#, air medium, 3# (lots of mini turn ups in the last 3 hours)12:00pm - 1669ºF/ 1514ºF, Both burners now at 2.5#, air medium-high, 3.5”
1:00pm - 1771ºF/ 1652ºF, Both burners now at 3#, air high, damper 3.5”
